Orlando City SC has officially announced the signing of Antoine Griezmann. The 35-year-old forward joins the Lions after his exit from Atletico Madrid.

What happened?

Griezmann agreed to an initial contract until the end of the 2027-2028 campaign, with the option to extend for a further year, back in March.

He is expected to take part in his first training session with Orlando next Monday, with the Lions' first game after the World Cup break coming on 22 July.

Why it matters for Orlando City SC

Orlando has endured an underwhelming start to their MLS campaign, sitting 12th in the Eastern Conference after 15 matches while it is also without a manager.

Martin Perelman is in temporary charge after Oscar Pareja's sacking back in March. No team has conceded more goals than Orlando's 44 so far this season.

What comes next?

The MLS club will be hoping Griezmann's experience will help kickstart its season, with the experienced forward having enjoyed a successful career during his time in LaLiga.

During his two spells with Atletico, Griezmann scored 212 goals and registered 95 assists in all competitions, the most of any player in the club's storied history. | Stat | Value | | --- | --- | | Next fixture | vs Real Salt Lake (at home, 2026-08-22) | | Currently sidelined | F.
